The Magic of Being a First Grader!

"If you are a dreamer, come in.  If you are a dreamer, a wisher...a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean-buyer...If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin.  Come in!  Come in!"
I think Shel Silverstein evoked the unharnessed capacity for imagination, invention, whimsy and learning that dwells within every child in the above poem, "Invitation".  When I decided to become a teacher, I did so hoping to make a difference in the lives of children  by helping them to master academic material and tap into all of that potential, as well as to help them feel great about themselves, both now and forever!  All children have the right to feel that they are welcome and wanted each and every day they come to school.  While we work very hard on our academic content, in our classroom we will also take time to get inspired by the environment around us...to talk about caring and sharing, and to consider ways in which we can make our world a better place!
