Ms. Callentine's 1st Grade Class...WILD about learning!
The Magic of Being a First Grader!
"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher...a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean-buyer...If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!"
I think Shel Silverstein evoked the unharnessed capacity for imagination, invention, whimsy and learning that dwells within every child when he wrote the poem "Invitation". Through teaching, I hope to make a difference in the lives of children by helping them to master academic material and tap into all of that potential, as well as guide them toward a lasting sense of pride and accomplishment All my students enjoy feeling welcome and wanted each and every day they come to school. While we work very hard on our academic content, in our classroom we also take time to get inspired by the environment around us...to talk about caring and sharing, and to consider ways in which we can make our world a better place!
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year...come in!
